Taka Bonerate National Park
Taka Bonerate is a marine reserve in the Flores Sea - south of Sulawesi Island of Indonesia. It's the third-largest atoll in the world, and the largest in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, which holds quite unique and rich biodiversity. Even though it's been included in UNESCO World Network Biosphere Reserves in 2015, managing the park has been always a challenging task. I visited the park when I was shooting and co-hosting Teroka (a knowledge documentary programme on Kompas TV) and witnessed how hard to it was to maintain more than 530 thousand hectares kept intact with very limited resources.
Tinabo Island is the home base for the Taka Bonerate National Park authority to monitor its more-than-500-hectares area.
The Taka Bonerate National Park rangers conduct a regular coral reefs habitat monitoring across the park.
